Letters to People of Influence

Letters. Those nice little slips of paper neatly tucked inside envelopes that we get in the mail. The pen is mightier than the sword. (The Bible was written, as a good example.) Anyway, letters can influence people. People of influence. There is always the possibility that your letter will influence someone. Perhaps even someone of great influence. My point? We should write letters. To people of influence. To actors. To politicians. To people of influence. What about? Sharing the gospel with them. If you like the idea, but you're not sure where to start, I've included a letter below I wrote to Georgie Henley (Lucy Pevensie) from the Disney Narnia films. This one is a bit different from the others, as she is a professing Christian. So, I wrote it a bit differently. If you need help, please comment, and I'd be glad to help you. Thanks for reading!

Miss Henley,

I recently discovered that your professed religion is Christianity. This somewhat surprised me. In a good way, though. You see, the reason I am writing this letter is to encourage you to stand for Jesus in a world that hates Him. And, to encourage you not to compromise with the world, as He is the only Savior. He said in John 6: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”

I'm sure the pressure of the media is nearly crushing, so that makes it even harder to stand for Him. The world presents so many false religions, it's impossible to keep up with them all. The evolutionists keep changing their minds and the atheists still fail to see the utter foolishness of believing there is no God. Psalms 53:1 says: “The fool has said in his heart 'there is no God.'”

I urge you to never deny Him, even if you are made fun of or scorned. In Matthew 5:11-12, Jesus says: “Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Suffering for Jesus is one of the greatest honors a person could have, as He died for His people.

Also, there is much apathy over Christianity. Many people go to church, but do not truly love Jesus. “Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car.” This is called being lukewarm, and Jesus says in Revelation 3:16-19: “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. ‘So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth. ‘Because you say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked, I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see. ‘Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent.” We should all watch for becoming apathetic.

Lastly, thank you so much for taking the time to read this letter. If you have any questions whatsoever, please do not hesitate to contact us. Our address is below. We will be praying for you to have the strength to stand for Jesus in a world that hates Him. Trusting that you are standing for Jesus, we stand with you.

In Him,
Matthew Presley, on behalf of the Presley family

Should I, as a Christian, Care About Politics?

Should I, as a Christian, Care About Politics?

Well, yeah. But I'll take a page or two to explain. If you care anything about freedom, your nation, religion, or your own well-being, you should. And I hope you do. The view of the average Christian teenager is: “I hate politics. They don't matter. I mean, who really cares?” Well, I do, and you should, if you don't all ready. All Christians should be actively involved in politics. Please don't faint. Stay with me. I'll repeat that. All Christians should be actively involved in politics. You may be saying: “What?!?”. Well, I won't take back my comment, nor will I leave you hanging. I'll explain that. First of all, your religious freedom hangs upon it. Nearly every single country in the world is doing their very best to do away with Christianity. And, as sad as it is to say it, the U.S. is one of them. Secondly, you as an individual should care about what is going on in your nation, as a Christian. Christians should not sit back and watch. Anybody with that theology needs to read their Bible. It's not biblical. As a matter of fact, it's blatantly against it. Proverbs 25:26 says: “Like a muddied spring or a polluted fountain is a righteous man who gives way before the wicked.” Point proven. We don't just watch as our country and culture become openly against God. In fact, we do everything in our power to stop it. Third, politics matter because they establish what laws you and the rest of everyone living in the country are supposed to abide by. And you should really know whether the laws passed are honoring to God or not. Here's a hint: most of them aren't. So, I think this has been sufficient to prove that politics do indeed matter in the life of a Christian. This, however, does not mean that everyone should strive to become a senator. If God has called you to be one, then by all means strive to become one. But, I'm afraid that we can't all be senators. What a bummer. Anyway, what I mean, is that you should, at the very least care. When Congress is seeking to pass an ungodly bill, you should contact them. They might not listen, but that doesn't really matter. It's our job to do what we have been called to do, and be content to trust that God in His divine providence will do what is best with it. We need to stop having an apathetic attitude about everything that isn't in our immediate interest. So, I guess this little article has come to a conclusion at last. The summary? Yes. You, as a Christian, should care about politics. And, as a matter of fact, it's a sin if you don't. After all, Paul rejoiced when he was brought before King Agrippa, didn't he? So should we. We should be a light in every part of our lives. Not in every area but politics. Thanks for reading, and God bless.

Thoughts on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

Thoughts on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is whether we realize it or not, one of the most serious things (if not the most serious) that has been before the United States Senate in 2012. You may say: “What?!?” “It's just a harmless treaty on the rights of people with disabilities.” Well, the fact of the matter is this: we don't need the UN telling us how to run our lives. We are on the highway to communism, whether we realize it or not. If this bill is passed, the Convention on the Rights of the Child is next. President Obama has even said that the failure to sign the Convention on the Rights of the Child is embarrassing, and promised to review it. If it's next, we are going to be seeing the end of freedom in America. Wake up! Wake up before it's too late! Our freedom is being taken away from us before our very eyes, and we have been too stupid to see it. Edmund Burke said that the only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. It is absolutely imperative that we stop doing nothing! Look at the nation. We are facing loss of freedom, economic disaster, and our president has declared that we are no longer a Christian nation.

Why? Good men have done nothing. Think about it. When good men were doing something, such as the Puritans, there were revivals. Great Awakenings. We need to pray for another one. If good men started doing something, we would see results. Results that would shock us. And is all this necessary? Yes. How can we be fulfilling the Great Commission by doing nothing? Too long we have been idle. And now we wake up almost too late. The nation is falling before our very eyes. And what are we going to do about it? Most people are probably going to do nothing. But take courage! Be bold! If everyone expects everyone else to do it, no one is going to do it. We can not sit back and watch as our freedom is taken away. God is not dead. He is very much alive. How can we honor Him by doing nothing? Proverbs 25:26 says: “Like a trampled spring and a polluted well is a righteous man who gives way before the wicked.” We have given way to the wicked for too long now. Quit being trampled springs and polluted wells! What good are they? We must rise up and stand for what is right. If this nation is ever going to change and become blessed by God again, people's hearts must change. Romans 10:14 says: “How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?” Does that mean we are all called to be preachers? Absolutely not. But does that mean we sit back and watch? No! Proverbs 25:26 says righteous man, not pastors. Stand up! Quit hiding! We are doing nothing, and we must do something. You may choose to do nothing. You may read this and agree with it, but still do nothing. You can do that, but I would have you realize that evil is flourishing in America because we have done nothing. Be a light to the world, a city on a hill that can not be hidden! Where am I going with all this? Well, it started with the UN Convention. And I'll get back to it. Please call or email your senator. Please refrain from doing nothing. It never got anybody anywhere. This treaty, if passed, will force you to do what the UN considers necessary for a child with disabilities. Don't believe me? Here's the link: http://www.un.org/disabilities/convention/conventionfull.shtml This country is not socialistic. It is becoming before our very eyes a very communistic nation. And we're doing nothing about it. We have closed our eyes too long. But it's not too late. Not yet. But it will be if we keep doing nothing. Contact your senator! Contact your governor! Contact all your government officials! This battle is not over. It is for them, though they don't realize it. Zechariah 2:8 says: “For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.” Fear not. Wicked men, government officials, and everyone else will be judged one day by God's standards, not theirs. And that is a comforting thought. But first, we must stop doing nothing. And we may not get the results we want. Robert E. Lee summed it up very well when he said: “The duty is ours. The consequences are God's.”

153 countries have all ready signed the treaty. And so has the United States. But Senate approval is still needed.

Will you be at fault for not doing everything in your power to stop this treaty, including praying for this nation with everything in you? Are you doing your duty?
